Come Grandpa Meow: Engaging Young Minds with Alzheimer’s Awareness – Seekers of Meaning 2/27/2026
On this week’s episode of the Seekers of Meaning TV Show and Podcast, Rabbi Address speaks with Carol Steinberg about her book, Come Grandpa Meow, Let’s Fly, which addresses the complexities of Alzheimer’s disease through an intergenerational lens. They discuss the personal impact of Alzheimer’s on families, the importance of early diagnosis, and the need for support for caregivers. The conversation highlights the significance of maintaining connections and engaging in meaningful activities with loved ones affected by the disease.
About the book
“In the face of this devastating disease, we are all looking for that ‘moment’—a twinkle of joy, laughter, connection, or remembrance,” author Carol Steinberg writes in the book’s introduction. Come Grandpa Meow, Let’s Fly offers that — and so much more.
Come Grandpa Meow, Let’s Fly is a sensitive and true-to-life children’s book to help families meet the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia with understanding and respect. A heartfelt story with age-appropriate language and beautiful watercolor illustrations explains the brain disorder, and it is uniquely complemented by a collection of intergenerational activities designed to strengthen connections between children and loved ones experiencing memory loss and other symptoms.
