The Passing of the Torch?
With the transfer of power from President Biden to V.P Harris, are we seeing a formal change or transition from mour generation to the next? We at Jewish Sacred Aging® work with congregations and organizations to highlight impact of the revolution in longevity on the Jewish community in particular, as well as the general American community. For years, Boomers have set the tone for much of society. Now, in a dramatic way, the torch may be passing. Such is life!
For Boomers, the reality of our own aging and the reality of our own mortality is now ever present. The rise in organizations and groups that are focusing on end of life issues reflects the desire that we recognize this reality and, as we have done in the past, want to control our death as much as possible.
But, as we age, basic questions bubble up to the front of consciousness. These are basic spiritual questions, common to all faith traditions and very present within the Jewish world. These are fundamental questions of meaning and purpose, of legacy and our place in the grand continuum of time. Has our existence meant anything, or have we been just a mere blink of an eye?
It is our hope that we can consider some of these questions in this space. Likewise, suggest a connection to jewishsacredaging.com and the weekly Seekers of Meaning podcast that can be heard by going to the website.
Stay tuned for more and we look forward to dialogue with you.
